Laura Bruaw found her place at PPL when she realized the company’s values aligned with her own. What started out as an internship for the Bloomsburg grad has blossomed into a fulfilling career for Bruaw, who is now an intermediate data visualization engineer.
“I like how forward-thinking and forward-moving the company is,” she said. “There is a big focus on technology and sustainability here. Seeing that attitude and knowing that’s something the company values is really important to me.”
Additionally, Bruaw is the president of FUSE, PPL’s business resource group (BRG) for employees and allies of the LGBTQ+ community and credits the group with enhancing her overall work experience.
“I firmly believe that you should not have to leave any part of who you are at the door when you come to work,” stated Bruaw.
She also appreciates the sense of community and connection inspired by PPL’s 16 BRGs. “I meet people across the business who I may never have gotten the chance to interact with were it not for the BRGs,” she shared. “I also feel like I am constantly learning and being challenged to grow and watching learning and growth occur in others. It’s a very rewarding experience.”
Bruaw is also proud of the fact that just like its business strategies for technology and sustainability, PPL’s diversity, equity and inclusion efforts are forward-moving and forward-thinking. “All support is great support, but allyship should be active and actionable and that is not forgotten here.”
